THE ROUNDUP LAWSUIT:
Lies, Cancer, &
10 Billion Dollar Settlements

We were LIED to.  Roundup weedkiller was NEVER SAFE.  Could the almost 50-year-old household staple really cause cancer?  The World Health Organization classified Glyphosate as “probably CARCINOGENIC to humans” with a “significant association between Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma and exposure to Glyphosate”.  And now, more than 100,000 claims have been filed stating Bayer (previously owned by Monsanto) did not let their consumers know that exposure to their product could potentially increase their risk for developing the 8th most common type of cancer, Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

In 2023, over 80,000 people, both adults and children,
will be diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

Since the Roundup lawsuit began, Monsanto released secret, internal documents as evidence.  Reports dating all the way back to 1983 suggests Monsanto knew the link between cancer and Roundup's main ingredient, Glyphosate.  Over four DECADES of Roundup sales  have taken place since then, with ads continually stating Roundup was "safe for people and pets".  According to the National Library of Medicine, the incidence of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma has been increasing worldwide for DECADES.  As more people are diagnosed with cancer, new Roundup lawsuits are continuing to be filed against Bayer.

Bayer to pay $10 billion dollars to settle cancer lawsuits,
with money set aside for future cases.

The verdicts speak for themselves.  In 2018, the first Roundup lawsuit awarded the plaintiff $289 million dollars.  This Roundup case was the first to go to trial because the 46-year-old plaintiff was near death and in the state of California dying plaintiffs can be granted an expedited trial.  The plaintiff was a groundskeeper for a school district who regularly used Roundup on the job.  Other successful verdicts against Monsanto resulted in $80 million dollars and $2 billion dollars.  By 2020, Bayer offered up a $10.9 billion dollar settlement to resolve the current lawsuits, allocating $1.25 billion to be used for future cases.

While toxic Roundup is finally coming off the shelves in 2023, the CANCER has already spread to our loved ones.

Bayer has announced that the company will stop selling Glyphosate-based Roundup in 2023 and replace the Glyphosate with alternate active ingredients, which are currently undisclosed.  While this is a big step to help prevent possible cancer in future generations, the damage has already been done.  Because of almost five DECADES of selling their formula made with Glyphosate, the risk of consumers developing cancer in the years to come is a very REAL possibility.  If you qualify for the Roundup lawsuit you will be joining the thousands before you that have come together to hold Bayer-Monsanto responsible.

ROUNDUP WEEDKILLER
& CANCER -
WHAT'S THE LINK?

The common factor linking Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma to Roundup is GLYPHOSATE.

Roundup is a weedkiller (herbicide) first sold by Monsanto, then was later acquired by Bayer.  The main active ingredient in Roundup is a registered pesticide known as Glyphosate.  Can regular exposure to Glyphosate increase your risk of developing cancer?

The World Health Organization classified Glyphosate as “probably CARCINOGENIC to humans” with a “significant association between Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma and exposure to Glyphosate”.

Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma (NHL) is one of the most common cancers in the United States.  NHL begins in your lymphatic system, which is part of your body's immune system.  It can develop anywhere in the body where there is lymph tissue,  such as the lymph nodes, bone marrow, or digestive system. NHL is actually an umbrella term that covers many different types of Lymphoma – over 60 subtypes of cancer have been recognized.  The type of NHL usually falls under 2 main types: B-Cell or T-Cell and is further grouped as Aggressive NHL (fast-growing) or Indolent NHL (slow-growing).

According to the National Library of Medicine, the incidence of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma has been increasing worldwide for DECADES. In year 2023, over 80,000 people, including both adults and children, will be diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma according to the American Cancer Society.

HOPE FOR THE FUTURE

HUMAN LIVES OVER PROFITS

Progress has already been made!  Bayer announced they are stopping sales of their ever-popular weedkiller, Roundup, to residential users in 2023.  The company is replacing their popular, original formula with a new non-Glyphosate version.

Roundup weedkiller made with Glyphosate
is finally coming off the shelves!

But there is more work to be done!  The original formula containing Glyphosate is still available to our farmers for commercial use in fields and orchards.  A 2018 study by the FDA showed Glyphosate in two-thirds of corn and soybean samples, and a 2018 test by the EWG found Glyphosate remnants in popular breakfast cereals, oatmeal, and granola bars.  After analysis, the cereal with the highest levels of Glyphosate found was Cheerios.

Our law nurses hope that the continued successful outcomes and verdicts of the Roundup litigation will help elicit significant change.  Companies should think twice before creating products that harm our health and our children's health.
